TUAKAU’S STOCK ROUTE.
MAIN STREET USED. The practice of driving stock through the main business portion of Tuakaau was refrred to at Tuesday’s meeting of the Town Board, It was pointed out that flocks of sheep were driven through the town, and as a result the street was knocked about. In view of the proposed work of top dressing l with tar and chips which would be put in hand shortly, members contended that drovers should be compelled to use the stock route, and thus obviate the possibility of damage to the street. The route from Tuakau South is along Carr Street, into Maclill Street, the railway line to Harrisville or Dominion Road. From Harrisville and Dominion Road the route is Liverpool Street, Madil Street and Carr Street, and from Whagarata, Ballard Road, Maclill Street and Carr Street. The above routes are Nose handy and little or no time is wasted in using them. It was teesolved to have notice boards erected directing the route to drovers.
