ORPHANS’ CLUB.
' FORMED IN PUKEKOHE. — vAn) enthusiastic gathering of exOrphans and intending Orphans was held, in the Carnival Tea Rooms on Tuesday evening last to consider the advisability of forming an Orphans’ Club in Pukekohe. Mr W. Hurle (late Auckland Orphans) occupied the chair, and Mr C. McCullough was appointed sec. pro. tem. Mr Hj. V„ Middlemiss was elected provisional treasurer. The pros and cons of the matter were fully discussed, and the meeting decided to form a bdanch of the Orphan’s Club in Pukekohe to foster musical, elocutionery) and entertaining talent of all kinds.
A provisional committee, consisting of Messrs W. Hurle, C.. K., Lawrie, J.Grainger, N. Hunter and Dr McSweeney, and the provisional sec. and treas. was elected to proceed with the initial procedings and .report to a general meeting to be held in April.
There is now every likelihood of a branch of this most entertaining social club being an established fact in the disrict.
