TUAKAU AFFAIRS.

At the last meeting of the Tuakau Town Board, tenders for the erection of the bridge at the foot of Harrisville Hill and for' the work of re-grading and 1 forming the hill were received. The "tender of Messrs F. and E. Closey ,of Otorahanga, for £527 10s, was accepted for the bridge, and that of Messrs Higgins and Finn, of Epsom, of £549, for the hill work, was accepted. There were two tenders for the re-grading of the hill and five for the erection of the bridge.

The first meeting of the Tuakau Town Board will be held on January 10th in the New Year.

Accounts amounting to £l9O 12s, general account, and £731 Ks 6d, loan account, were passed for payment at the last meeting of the Tuakau Town Boaard. The debit balance of the general account was shown at £226 12s lOd, while the loan account was shown to be £2346 12 lOd in cvdit,

It Is quite possible that next summer Tuakaa will possess a Bowling Club, and an excellent bowling green. Steps are taken with this object m view r . On Wednesday last the Tuakau Musical and Dramatic Society gave a highly successful concert to an excellent house. The performance throughout showed a decided improvement as the result of constantpractice, and both vocal and instrumental items were distinctly in advance of previous efforts, there being more finish and effect with a consequent diminishing of amateurism. The glees and orchestral numbers were most enjoyaable, and the flute solo b> Mr Friedlander, songs by Miss Leaman, and Mr Bear, duet by Misses Lewis and Ewing, and violin solo by Mr Kleinian, were all enthusiastically received. Mr Alan McElwain, the inimitable, added -the sauce of gaiety and brightness to completely round off a most enjoyable concert. , L
