The Ngaruawahia Chamber of Compierce wrajte at Thursday's meeting ft the Franklin County Council, stating that it was vitally interested in the navigation of the Waipa and Wai-Jj lrato l’ivers. As the Inland Water- 1 } ways Commission’s report would • shortly be available the Chamber had decided to call a meeting of persons of persons interested in the river question as soon as possible after the publication of the report. The meeting Would be held on a Friday, at an hour to suit the delegates.! The matter was of vital aimpovtance that it was imperative to take vigorous and united! action in order to impress upon the Government the urgent necessity of improving the navigation of >the rivers. Cr Jl Dean was appointed to represent the Council at the conference.
