CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.

MEETING LAST NIGHT* Mr F. Perkins, president of the Pukekohe Chamber/ of Commerce, presided! over a well-attended meeting of members of the above body last evening. It was gratifying 1o note the increased interest being shown in the business life of the town. Considerable business was transacted, some of the more important being reported in other columns today.& XMAS SHOPPING NIGHT. The Chamber agreed that local concerns should observe the usual late night (Friday) for the week ending with Xmas eve. I/t was pointed out that this was practically the concerted opinion of all -shopping centres in the Dominion. The Chamber dealt with matters of public health, farmers’ 'week, etc. It was resolved to send letters of appreciation to the district heads of the Police and Railway Departments thanking them for the efficient sei - vice rendered by those branches in Pukekohe. *
