The local courts are being well patronised at present and in good working order, though as yet a trifle soft. The renovation to the courts lias been rather a drain on the Club's resources, and it is hoped that members will avail themselves of the rebate in the subscription by paying before the end of the year. The courts were in full swing on Saturday, and! though no one as yet has gof inlto his true form there are many promising players. It would be well for all to remember at this stage that steadiness at the begining of the season will regain a player’s form more quickly than wild, eratic shooting, and to bear in mind Til den’s injunction to “return the baLl over the nek before trying to beat your opponent’/ The first match of the season will be played on Saturday against Papatoetoe at Pukekohe. One or more courts will be available for members of the local club who are not playing in the match. Owing to the fact that players have not yet struck form, the selectors’ work is not an enviable one. The team will be notified before Thursday and are asked to be on the courts punctually at 2 p.m.
