SUBWAY ROAD.
A CONDITIONAL OFFER. j . For some time past the matter of tlie proposed road to connect the subway at the southern end of the Railway Station with Manukau Road has been- before the Borough Council, but up to the present nothing of a definite nature has resulted'. At Monday’s meeting of 'the Borough Council, the town clerk reported that Mr Roulston was prepared to give the necessary land! to complete the road on condition that the Council accepted dedication of a piece of road, about five chains in length, to connect Mr Crosbie’s road with the subway road. If this did! not meet with it,he approval of the Council he would adhere to his offer to sell the necessary land for the subway road. The Mayor said that he thought the offer a good one, as it would mean a saving of about £2OO to the Borough.
. £> Pattei’son held an entirely different view, stating that it would cost the Borough a large amount to form and scoria the road connecting with Crosbie’s road. However, the matter was referred to: the Works Committee foi a report.
