PUKEKOHE BOROUGH COUNCIL.
ORDINARY MEETING. The Borough Council met on Monday night. Present: The Mayor (Mr John Routly), Crs D. R. Hamilton, Geo. H Armstrong, A. P. Daysh, R. H. McGough, J. Patterson, F. J, Morrow, Xas. Kennelly, T. Brownlee, the Clerk (Mr J. F- Deane), and the Foreman (Mr S. J. Clews). The Railway Department (Maintenance Branch) drew the Council’s attention. to the damage the storm water from Manukau Road was causing to the Railway, property, particularly the road, leading po, the goods 1 shed from' y the gate on Manukau Road. : Attention was also drawn to; the water overflowing the footpath Opposite the ; Pukekohe Hotel, on to the railway cutting, causing a slip of about 25 yards pf. spoil on to the permanent way. The matter was being reported to the ; District Engineer. .-—The, foreman said, that the, pipe Would not carry the water, -particularly, when there was a heavy downpour, such as has been experienced during the last week or so. The pipe had frequently blocked previously, but the , water , subsided rapidly. Therel was evidently some obstruc-tibn.-rQn the motion of Crs Ratterson, and Armstrong, ,the matter was referred to the Works. Committee, with powey to act. Mr James Murray requested that the town water supply be laid along John Street. He pointed out that the application wae granted some time ago.—. The matter was referred to the Waterworks Committee, with power to act. , -. . \ The, matter of providing the town water supply to residents in Nelson Street was referred to , the Waterwere passed for payment.
