PUKEKOHE BOROUGH COUNCIL.

FORTNIGHTLY MEETING. The usual meeting of the Pukekohe Borough Council was held on Monday evening. Present : His Worship the Mayor (Mr J. Routly), Grs D. R. Hamilton, Armstrong, Daysh, McGcugh, Patterson, Morrow, Brownlee, Kennelley. Welcoming the Premier. The Mayor reported that he had sent a lejtter of welcome to the Hon, W. F. Massey on his arrival from England. A reply from the Premier has already been published in the Times. Opening War Memorial. The Mayor also stated that it was expected that the Premier would be in Pukekohe on Sunday three weeks hence to open the War Memorial. Roose’s Bush Loan. The Mayor and Town Clerk had interviewed the Premier in reference to his promise re a subsidy foi the Roose’s Bush loan. The Premier had promised to keep the matter in view, though he had impressed upon them the unsuitabilijty of the time for loans of this sort:

Pukekohe Cricket Club,

Mr J. G. Hastie, hon. secretary of the Pukekohe Cricket Club, wrote asking for information re a concrete pitch which the Council had agreed to pujt down in the Domain last year. Cr Daysh saidi the club did not wish for a concrete pitch, but merely a sand and tar pitch. The club was prepared to pay something towards the cost. He moved that: such a pitch be pu.t down at a cost not to exceed £6, the club to pay £4. — Agreed to.

Pukekohe East Complaint.

A number of ratepayers at Pukekohe East wrote asking for consideration in being supplied with water and electric Mghjt, They pointed out that for years they have been paying rates for these necessities, and have not yet got them, The Council agreed that pending the Raising of loans (to complete these works, the Council will do all in its power to put some scoria on Belgium Street this summer.

Rat Prevention.

A Departmental letter, urging the Council to set about a campaign for the destruction of rats was received.
