FRANKLIN ELECTRIC SCHEME.

COUNCIL ENLARGES AREA FOR PRIVATE COMPANY. At the Franklin County Council meeting held yesterday th» matter of extending the^ area over which the Council has granted a proposed deed of delegation was discussed. Those who spoke in favour of extending the field of operations to this Waiuku Company were the chairman, Mr W. Claude Motion, and Cr Woods ,of Pukekohe West Riding. The Councillors, with the exception of Cr. Reid, voted unanimously in favour. Cr. Reid took no part whatever in the discussion. The following is the text of the resolutions passed at yesterday’s meeting:—“That this Council agrees to the area of supply to be included in the proposed deed of delegation to the Franklin Electric Supply Co. being extended to include that portion of the area over which the Public Works Department is prepared to grant the license comprising the Awhitu, Waipipi, Waiuku, Mauku and portion of the Pukekohe West Ridings of the Franklin County, provided that a further agreement is drawn up by the county solicitor and executed by the said company whereby the company undertakes to erect main transmission lines and supply electricity in accordance with the provisions of the agreement already entered into along such roads in the said area as should be specified in such agreement, within a period of three years from the date of the license, and further provided that the company undertakes to pay all legal costs. The motion was carried unanimously. Cr. Reid did not vote.

Cr. Woods moved and Cr. Heald seconded:—“That it be left in the hands of the county chairman to confer with tthe county solicitor in regard to preparation' of the above agreement.”—Carried.

Cr. Woods moved and Cr. Heald seconded:—“That the agreement and plan showing main transmission lines be referred to Cr. Cuff (MaukuT and C. Woods (Pukekohe West) for appi’oval before same is submitted tot tthe company.”—Carried. The full discussion will be published in Tuesday’s paper.
