OTAHUHU FIRE BRIGADE.
MOST SUCCESSFUL CONCERT. What was by common consent coasidered as the most enjoyable programme ever given at Otahuhu was staged last Friday evening, July 1, on the occasion of an appeal to the public to contribute funds to aid further development of the work of the Otahuhu Fire Brigade. The hall was filled to overcrowding, and from the time ' the start was made at 8 p.m., under the direction of Captain Wells, of Westfield, ~as stage manager, until the finish the building rang with enthusiastic applause. Frequently the performers felt impelled to make a reappearance. The talent, including leading Auckland and local artists, offered ample variety. During the interval His Worship the Mayor (Mr Todd) referred to the progress made by the brigade under Captain Wilson, and recalled pleasant incidents. On behalf of the brigade, h& tjhanked the public for its hearty co-operation and support. The Mayor also proposed a vote of thanks to the performer's, which was carried with, acclamation.
The concert programme concluded with the National Anthem, and the hall was then cleared fop a dance. Dancing was kept up until midnight* everyone ‘ agreeing that it had been a most enjoyable evening.
