TOWN BOARD MEETING.

'APPROVAtVOF BALANCE-SHEET

The fortnightly* meeting of the Papatoefcoe Town Board was held on Tuesday evening last, Mr Arthur Hall presiding. Tfh'ere were also present Messrs Bryant, Geo. Smith, S. McCullough, Wats an, A. U. Timeweli, and Death. • , The Board was chiefly concerned in considering the balance-sheet and financial position. tThe general account showed receipts of £1357 18s Id from general rates ; £132 11s from 'incidentals, chiefly permits, and £17.4 12s 6d from,subsidy on general rates. The expenditure consisted of £874 lbs 3d for road works, £657 Is Id for wages, besides £344 14s Id in genera 1 , The account showed a debit balance at March 31st of £669 17e lid. ..

The Hospital and Charitable Aid rate account showed receipts of £339 9s lOd, and expenditure of £3Ol Os Sd. A credit balance of £46 18s 5d was recorded as at March 31st. The Papatoetoe Hall special rate account showed receipts of £l2B Is lid, and expenditures of £l2B 13 Id, there being a debit balance on the 31 March of 11s 2d.

, The War Memorial Fund showed an amount in hand of £251 13s.

The Papatoetoe Hall account recorded a credit balance on March 31 of £lO 12 6d.

The Mangere special rate account showed a credit balance at March 31 of £l3 Is 6d.

A debit balance of 4s 9d at March 31 was recorded on the East Tamiki special rate account,.

!fhe statement of balances showed an amount of £IG 9s 6d cash in bard.

.Assets totalled £491 7s 10, and liabilities £713 0s sd.

Foreman's Report.

The foreman reported to the Board that during the fortnight some patching / ~with scoria had been done on the weak places in Station Road. Kerbing and channelling by Burnside Bros 7 stables had been completed ; the footpath had been formed up and some scoria put on. Metal was, being put on to raise the middle of the road from the Post Office to the junction with Coronation Road. A good portion of Portage Road had been spread with scoria. The Board approved the sub-divis-ions of the Carruth Estate and Landon's sections.

Accounts amounting to £l6l 18a were passed for payment.
