PROPOSED DAIRY FARMERS’ UNION.

TO ASSIST FARMERS. It is an established fact among a number of the dairy farming community that the business end of th® dairy farmer is in anything but a stable position and with the object of placing it on a sounder footing a movement is on foot to form branches of the Dairy Fanners’ Union in 'this district. It is claimed that the loss to the dairy farming community through not being organised is £7,800,000 annually, and to save the loss it is proposed to adopt a method of systematic herd testing. Do away with what is termed the “robber cow.” Only registered pedigree bulls should be kept. The dam of each bull should register over 3001 b butterfat. Do away with the profiteer and get direct to the consumer, while the establishment of farmers’ banks, shipping and agricultural government are also advocated. The organiser of the union, Mr A. E. Fear, of Te Awamutu, will address meetings at all centres of the Franklin County, commencing on Monday. July 18. See our advertising columns.
