PAPAKURA TRAIN SERVICE SPEEDING UP URGED. j For some time past ag'.tation had been current in Papakura with a view of having the trains cn the suburban length speeded, up.. The public: generally is dissatisfied, with the speed which some of the trains travel. One in particular has had. the cognomen of “Weary Willie” Stowed on it, And that one is timed to depart from Auckland at 5.17 in the evening. Numerous compiaints are heard on all sides. Recently tha ■ Manurewa Town Board and the Takanini Welfare League moved in th. 9 matter with a view of having “Weary Willie” speeded up. At Monday’s 'meeting of the FapakuaS Town Board, Mr J E. Cain, on behalf of a number of residents, urged that the Board' co-operate with the other bodies to have the request acceded, to. He pointed cut that the train* seldom* if ever, left to time, and. took between 111 end 1 Y-i hours to do the trip, and very often reached its destination at seven o clock Irt the evening, much behind schedule time.
