MAGISTRATE’S COURT.
(Before Mr Burton, S.M.) Prior to the opening of the S.M. Court at Pukekohe yesterday Mr Haddow, on behalf or the Bar, cordially welcomed Mr Bui’ton to the district, and said that he felt that Mr Burton would uphold the high traditions of the magistrates in New Zealand. In reply, Mr Burton said he was very pleased indeed to have such a welcome and to meet old friends of the Bar, He was pleased to be amongst them, and would give every attention to their cases. BREACH OF PROHIBITION ORDER. Thomson Tahia was charged with a breach of his prohibition order. Accused pleaded guilty. Fined £l, and costs 12s. John Maloney was chai-ged with entering- licensed premises duiing the currency of his prohibition order. Fined £l, and costs 7s.
CIVIL CASES. Cooper and Curd v. Malcolm Bros. Judgment by default for £3 3s, and costs £1 Bs. Solicitors’s fee, 10s 6d. Fi'anklin Farmers’ AuctioneeringCo. v. Rupert White. Judgment by default for £1 5s 6d, and costs 35s 6d. Raglan County Council v. J. McGuire. Judgment for £l7 17s, and costs 28s. ’ Horn v. Fellows. Adjourned until 19th. Stembi'idge v. John Kane. Judgrpent by default for £2, in default two days’ impi'isonment in Auckland gaol. Costs 11s. John Bi’own v. J. McKenzie, amount claiamed £26 19s 4d, Mr Basley for Blown ci'oss-examined Mackenzie as to his finances. No order was made.
