WHANGARATA.
The annual meeting of householders was held in the Whangarata school on Monday, 2nd irst., at 7 p.m. The report and balance-sheet for the 12 months was read and adopted. The inspector’s report showed the school to be in a highly satisfactory state, the discipline, tone and general efficiency of the pupils giving strong evidence of the care and attention devoted to them by Mrs Naylor, the teacher. A resolution of appreciation and confidence in ths teacher was moved and carried unanimously. A motion was moved by Mr J. Fulton and carried unanimously, congratulating the Education Board on the firm stand they took in declining to appoint a Hindu teacher to their staff, although the Education Department approved of such in appointment. The following were elected to the committee for the folhving year:— Messrs P. J. Covney (chairman) reelected, E. A. Clayton (secretary and treasurer), J. Fulton, C. Taylor, H. Brewster.
A hearty vote of thanks was carried by acclamation to Messrs J. S. McGahan and J. Wilson, two retiring McGahan and J. Wilson, two rettiring committeemen, who did not seek reelection, for past services rendered and the kindly interest they took in the school.
