RUGBY FOOTBALL.
From the same personnel a Rugby Football Club was formed, Mr Keith Claud being secretary and treasurer, while an old Ponsonby player, Mr Cramond, was elected captain. Mr J. Henderson, a veteran player, who was the selector, expressed his approval of the material and hoped to get two teams affiliated, a third and a fourth grade. Mr Timewell presented the team with a match ball and Mr Henderson offered a gold medal for the best forward. " Messrs Burnside Bros, promised the players the use of their big shed for practice twice a week. It was suggested that some of the townspeople be asked to act in the capacity of presidents (one for each movement) to give dignity to the club and the committee and incidentally to keep the finances.
