BUCKLAND.

The anniversary services of the Buckland Methodist Sunday School were held on Sunday, April 17th, the preacher for the day being- Mr F. Crespin, of Auckland. ,Under the leadership of Mr J. Danes, the scholars, assisted by the choir, sang special hymns. On Tuesday evening, the annual social and distribution of prizes was held in the Church. Tea for the scholars was at 6 p.m., in the class room, followed by games and a concert. The Rev. Olphert presided, and items were given by the following: Mrs Knowls, Miss R. Allen, Mr Danes, Misses M, Neal, D. Melville, K. Knowles, R. Hill, L. Murray, Masters F. and H. Hill. The accompaniments were played by Mrs Hill and Miss Allen. At the close of the meeting, the Rev. Olphert, on behalf of Sunday School friends, asked Mr and Mrs Hill’s acceptance of a small gift as a token of the appreciation of their work in connection with the Church and School. Mr Hill suitably replied. Supper was then served in the class room by the Sunday School staff and friends.
