WEDDING BELLS.

HEWITT—JENKINS. A very pretty wedding was solemnised in St. James’ Presbyterian 1 Church, Pukekohe, yesterday, by the Rev. S. Nixon, when Mr. Frank Hewitt, eldest son of Mr. F. T. Hewitt,, of Dannevirke. was united in the bonds of matrimony to Miss Ada Elizabeth Jenkins, second daughter of Mr and Mrs Thos. Jenkins, of Pukekohe West. The bride, who was given away by her father, was eharmingly gowned in rich creme crepe-de-chine, prettily trimmed with charmuese satin and dainty gorgette frills. She also wore the usual orthodox veil and orange blossoms and carried a beautiful .shower boquet of cactus dahlias, maiden hair and asparagus fern. The bridesmaid was Miss Olive Jenkins, sister of the bride, who was prettily gowned in an ivory crepe-de-chine frock with heavy floss trimmings and wore a shell pink hat. She carried a dainty bouquet of dahlias and maiden hair and asparagus fern. Mr Lionel Sharp,, of Grey Lynn, a friend of bride and bridegroom, acted in the capacity of best man. After the ceremony in the church the party adjourned to the Carnival Tea Rooms, where over sixty guests sat down to a sumptuous wedding breakff st. A handsome three-decker cake made by Messrs Perkins and Co., was the outstanding feature of the. table decorations. The Rev. S. Nixon presided at the breakfast and the usual toasts were honoured, after which the happy couple left by train for Auckland, where the honeymoon is to be spent. The bride’s travelling dress was a navy blue chiffon taffeta costume with hat to match. The presents -were very numerous and included a number of cheques. The groom’s present to the' bridesmaid was a pretty gold pendant. Mr and Mrs Hewitt are a well-knowp and popular couple. Mrs. Hewitt as Miss Jenkins, was for some time on the office staff of the Franklin County Council, and Mr. Hewitt is or. the literary staff of this journal. WOODBRIDGE—ADAMS. A charming wedding was celebrated on March 9 in St. Andrew’s Church, Pukekohe, by the Rev. J. P. Cowie, when Herbert Jones Woodbridge was united in holy matrimony to Evelyn Lucy Adams, daughter of M,r and Mrs T. Adams, Victoria Street, Pukekohe. The bride, who was given away by her father, looked charming in a dainty frock of white crepe de chine, with satin and silver trimming finished with white beaded sprays. She wore the customary veil and orange blossoms and carried a bouquet of white asters, with asparagus and maiden haid fern. The bride was attended by Miss Gladys Woodbridge, sister of the bridegroom, who was attired in white ivory silk.witbhand Worked net overdress, edged with satin ribbon. She carried a bouquet of white chrysanthemums, with asparagus fern. Thelma Adams and Edna Beloe attended as flower girls, ana looked very pretty is lemon silk dresses with lace tunic finished with tassels, mop caps of white silk edged with real lace' and trimmed with a spray of tiny roses. Each carried a basket of lemon and blue flowers. Mr * George Prince made a capable best man. After the ceremony a wedding breakfast was held at the residence of the bride’s parents, about forty couples being present. The tables were prettily decorated and a large wedding bell was suspended over the wedding cake. The usual toast list was duly honoured. Afterwards the happy couple left by motor en route for Rotorua, where the honeymoon is to be spent. The presents were both numerous and costly, showing the esteem in which the young couple wereheld in the district. The bridegroom’s presents to the bride and bridesmaids were handsome gold brooches. The future residence of the happy couplewill be at Tuakau.
