BOMBAY NEWS.
Harvest festival services were held on Sunday last at St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Bombay. The church was beautifully decorated by a band of willing helpers, and a liberal supply of produce, fruit, flowers and grain was most tastefully displayed. Thanks are due to all who responded to the appeal and gave so generously, as they always do on every occasion when called upon. The services both morning and evening were well attended, suitable hymns and chants were rendered, and the vicar (the Rev. C. A. Vaughan) preached seasonable and impressive sermons. The whole of the produce, etc, was afterwards dispatched to Auckland, to gladden the hearts of the inmates of the Children’s Home, Ponsonby. On Monday last, Mr L. J. Litt, the vicar’s warden and chiych treasurer, left for England on a business trip. Mr Litt had done valuable and onerous work for St. Peter’s, and his services were recognised at a representative farewell gathering recently held at the vicarage. On behalf of the church people generally he was presented with a handsome travelling rug. In making the presentation, the vicar referred at length to Mr Litt’s services and untiring efforts on behalf of the church, end in the name of all he wished him God-speed and a safe return. A very happy evening was spent with musical items and competitions, concluding with supper and the singing of “Auld Lang Syne.” Mr W. H. Penrhys Evans, of Razorback, has been nominated as vicar’s warden during Mr Litt’s absence.
