TUAKAU.
TOWN BOARD VACANCY. TWO CANDIDATES. An election to fill the vacancy on the Tuakau Town Board, caused by the resignation of Mr. Jas. Pirret, will be held on March 23. Two candidates have been nominated, viz., Messrs Alphonso Medland and James Pit ret. The polling place will be the Tuakau Hall and the hours of polling will he between the hours of 9 a.rn. and 6 p.m. MR. J. PIRRET’S FLECTION COMMIT TEE. At a meeting- of those ratepayers interested in the forthcoming Tuakau Town Board by-election, they agreed to form a committee to further the interests of the candidature of Mr Jas. Pirret. Mr Jas. Henderson was appointed chairman and Mr W. Glasgow secretary. It was resolved to use all possible means to return Mr Pirret to the Board. Various points of organisation'Tvere considered and the committee, as a result of the reports submitted, are confident that the electors will endorse Mr Pirret’s action in resigning.
The question of forming a ratepayers’- league was considered, but it was agreed to defer formation of same until a later date. Financial support for the ratepayers’ league was promised.
