FRANKLIN ELECTRIC SUPPLY COMPANY.
DEED OF OPTION ACCEPTED. At Thursday’s meeting of the Franklin County Council letters were received from Messrs McEwen, Hutton and Co.. Ltd., of Wellington, and the Franklin Electric Supply and. Tiading Company* Ltd., Waiuku, intimating the sale and acquirement of the business. They also notified that the company intended to exercise the rights and privileges granted by the Council to Messrs McEwen, Hutton and Co., Ltd., under deed of option dated September 1, 1920.
On the motion of the chairman, it was decided to forward the notices to the county solicitor who had the matter in hand. Cr. Reed mentioned that he was asked to request the Council to apply fcr the license for the company to carry out its electric lighting scheme ever a seven mile radius from Waiuku.
Cr. Reid was informed that it would be better if thb request was put in in writing. This he agreed to and the clerk was instructed upon receipt of the application to forward it to the county solicitor.
The chairman mentioned that although he approved of the electric scheme and in view of the fact that f he had been approached to buy shares he did not acquire any because he was a party to the business. He would not take any shares as long as he was chairman of the Council.
