TUAKAU TOWN BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING. The ordinary monthly meeting of the Tuakau Town Board was held on Tuesday, when there were present: — Messrs Dynes Fulton (chairman), Jas. Ph-ret, C. Finch, J. B. Sim,: W. J. Taylor and the clerk (Mr. A. H. Tapper. An apology for absence was received from Mr. G. Arrowsmith. Health Act, 1920. The medical health officer, Dr. T. J. Hughes, requested to know what action the Board had taken regarding the Health Act, 1920.—The clerk was instructed to reply stating that the Board had communicated with other local bodies endeavouring to arrange for a conference to see what action they intended to take. In the meantime the clerk was acting as the inspector.

In reply to the Board’s letter asking what action it had taken, the Franklin County Council advised that so far no steps had been taken.

The Waiuku Town Board wrote stating that it had always employed an inspector, who visited the town five or six imes a year and when necessary, at the rate of £lO per annum. Balance £12,009 Loan. The Public Trust Office remitted £3OOO, balance of the Tuakau Town Board special loan of £12,000.- —Received. Town Hall Loan. In connection with the Board’s application to the Government Insurance Department for a loan of £7OOO for the purpose of erecting a town hall, the Prime Minister stated that he would personally discuss the matter with the Minister in charge of the department concerned to see what could be done, and he would reply further at an early date.—lt was decided to interview the Premier on the matter.

Billiard Saloon License. A billiard saloon license was granted Samuel Kleinman of Tuakau, George Street. Mr Taylor urged that George Street be tarred on sanded, and on his motion it was decided to obtain! an estimate of the cost of the proposed work from the engineer,, also an estimate of cost of tarring and sanding the footpath in George Street. Finance, Accounts amounting to £79 16s 3d were passed for payment. The overdraft of the general account was shown at £553 14s 4d and the loan account in credit £2819 12s 4d.
