TENNIS.

MAUKU V. DEVONPORT. The Mauku Tennis Club celebrated Anniversary Day, the 29th, by playing a match with a team from Devonport The visitors arrived by an early train at Pukekohe and were conveyed to ii'rr- Mauku courts in M \ Garvies' lorry. Aftefir ments were partaken of play commenced, and was kept up with great spirit until late in the afternoon, when preparations for the return journey were made. The result of the play was a win for the visitors, who secured one set to the good. The scores were as follows, the visitors names appearing first in each instance:—

At the conclusion of the play the visiting captain thanked the Mauku players for a pleasant day and extended a hearty invitation to the Mauku Club to play Devonport a return visit if at any time it was possible to do so. Three hearty cheers for both sides brought the proceedings to a close..
