GLEN MURRAY.
A number of settlers in this district are considering the advisability of starting dairying next season owing to the high prices offering for butter-fat. Much of the land now carrying sheep is admirably adapted for dairying, and the best of results can be confidently expected from the latter industry. The oat crops have been particularly heavy this season, good results being reported from all directions. One field of 25 acres of Mr. Ramsay’s of Opuatia is said to be exceptionally good. An enjoyable evening was spent on February 21, when Mrs. Sorby gave a dance in the Glen Murray schoolroom. The school was nicely decorated with flowers and evergreens for the occasion. Mrs. Whitehorn was pianist for the evening, extras being given by Miss Maloney. Mr. Whitehorn again proved himself an efficient M.C.
Miss Simpson, who has recently completed her course at the Teachers’ Training College, has received her appointment as sole teacher for the Ohauiti school.
