BUILDING MATERIAL REGULATIONS
PROSECUTION FOR BREACH (P.A.) NEW PLYMOUTH. Oct. 23. Charges involving alleged breaches of th* regulations governing:the control of building materials, the first to be instituted Tn the Dominion, were preferred in the Police Court at New Plymouth to-day against Ernest Colin Hayton, of New Plymouth, a plumbers’ merchant, and Metal Workers Ltd., of New Plymouth, metal goods manufacturers,'in which Hayton is also a shareholder. ' , . . Hayton faced 16 charges, all of a similar nature. It is alleged that, being an owner according to the regulations of certain quantities of plain and corrugated iron which came within the restriction of the regulations, he did in parting - with this iron fail unlawfully to comply with directions given, under the regulations. The transactions connected with the alleged disposal of the goods were spread over » period from April 17 to July 31. Two charges laid against Metal Workers. Ltd. alleged that on July 17, 1942; at New Plymouth, the firm did with intent to deceive make false statements in a written communication with Douglas Shaw, the emergency controller, . ' , The hearing was continued tn-mgnt. ana is expected to last some days. Twentyfour witnesses are to be heard.
