ESCAPE FROM ENEMY
MILITARY MEDAL AWARDED (P.A.) WELLINGTON, October 22. 1 Military Medals have been awarded to two New Zealanders who have returned to their units after having beeti posted missing in the campaign in Greece. They are: Driver Edward Frederick Foley; next of kin, Mrs M K. Foley, Auckland. ' Staff-sergeant William George Penney; next of km. Mrs B. Penney, Kaikohe. Driver Foley was born at Awanui in 1917. He enlisted in October, 1939, and left New Zealand with the First Echelon with the Reserve Motor Transport Company. He was reported missing after the Greek campaign in June. 1041. after the occupation of that country by the enemy. He escaped and returned to Egypt in June, 1942. Sergeant Penney was born at Whangaroa in March 1906. He enlisted in September, 1939. and left New Zealand with the .Second Echelon He was reported missing in Greece, and was then reported to be a prisoner of war. He was reported safe in the New Zca’an’ 1 ' •ise camp in the Middle East in Juno, 1942.
