GOODS WAGONS DERAILED
SLIGHT INTERRUPTION TO TRAIN SERVICE Slight disorganisation of rail traffic south of Balclutha occurred this morning following the derailment of five wagons attaced to a goods train proceeding from Invercargill to Dunedin. The derailment occurred at 2 a.m. at Kuriwao, a siding four miles north of Clinton, and some damage resulted to the track for a distance of about one mile. Passengers and mails which normally leave Clinton at 6.45 a.m. were conveyed to Balclutha by bus. A connection was made there by a relief train which left for Dunedin at 8.5, only five minutes behind the Clinton train’s schedule. The 8.33 express from Dunedin was not held up. The cause of the derailment had not been disclosed up to 1 p.m.
