POLICE COURT
MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 7. (Before Mr H. W. Bundle, S.M.) AFTER-HOURS TRADING. Beniamin Parker, licensee of the Victoria Hotel, represented by Mr 0. J. -DWhite, pleaded' guilty to a charge of selling liquor after hours. It was admitted by Sergeant Conway, for the police, that Parker was in hospital when the offence was committed, but the Magistrate stated that the licensee of an hotel was vicariously liable for his barman’s acts. Parker was fined £lO and costs. Ewen Doherty, the barman, similarly charged, was also fined £lO and costs. FAILURE TO ENROL. Lawrence George Byres, who appeared on remand from Friday last, having pleaded guiltv to a charge of failing to enrol in the First Division, was sentenced to one month’s imprisonment. INDECENT ASSAULT ALLEGED. William Thomas Moulin (Mr C. J. L. White) pleaded not guiltv to s. charge of indecent assault on a male. After evidence was hoard, he reserved his defence and was committed to the Supreme Court for trial. ___
