SENATOR’S DEATH
BODY FOUND OK lEACH (Rec. 10.5 a.m.) MELBOURNE, September 7. The body of Senator E. B. Johnston, who recently was the defendant in Commonjvealtli taxation litigation, was found near tho flbeach at Black Bock, near Melbourne, this morning. Senator Johnston had been in ill-health for some time. He had been staying with a brother at Black Rock since his return from Canberra last week. He left home at 8, and his unclad ibody was found at 11 a.m., with his clothes nearby. Last week in the lounge of an hotel at Canberra Senator Johnston read a remarkable document to a small group. He intended to read it in the Senate, but was prevented from doing so. Senator Johnston, who was obviously suffering from strain, said in the document that he was “ speaking on the verge of the grave,” and used the words “ rain and disasters.” A member of Parliament who was present offered to read the document in the House or -Representatives next week, and the otter was gratefully accepted. The member later said; “This is the last time we will see Senator Johnston.
