SKATING
The senior events of the New Zealand roller skating championships were commenced at the De Luxe Rink last night, tho deputy-mayor, Mr D. C. Cameron, opening the proceedings, after a parade of tho competitors. Mr Cameron complimented the Roller Skating Association, which is conducting the championships, on the fine work it was performing in keeping active such a healthy pastime. The partners' events held last night produced an exceptionally high standard of skating, and Christchurch competitors wore successful in winning all the events. Tho following are the results:— Gliding Championship (pairs). Miss Lilian Bradley and Mr C. Lawrence (Christchurch) 1,, Miss Joyce Adams and Mr H. Allchurch (Christchurch) 2. Waltzing Championship (pairs).—Miss Joyce Adams and Mr H. Allchurch (Christchurch) 1, Miss Noela Woodward and Mr C. O’Hara (Timaru) 2. Speed Championship (quartermiile).— Mr N. Wingham (Christchurch) 1, Mr P. Bamford (Christchurch) 2, Mr C. Gorrie (Christchurch) 3.
