In gas ccal, and oil the quotation for Kaitangata was 31s 6d (buyer), 33s (seller). In the miscellaneous section buyers were again in predominance and there was a general rising tendency. A.C.I. were sought at 465, D.I.C. (pref.) at 24s Bd, Dominion Fertiliser at 18s 3d, Donaghy’s Rope and Twine at 47s 9d, Felt and Textiles at 36s 9d, G. J. Coles at 51s, N.Z. Customs revenue collected at the Port of Dunedin last month shows a decrease of £6,215 compared with the returns for the corresponding month of last year. During August the returns amounted to £32,794, whereas for August, 1941, the total was £39,009. Beer duty last month amounted to £22,354, which is £9,300 less than the total for August of last year, but sales lax shows only a very slight drop, the collections for the month just ended being £52,025, and for the corresponding period of 1941, £32,301. During last month £104,508 was collected in war expenses taxation, an increase of £64.532 over the figures for August, 1941.
