Sudden Death.—The sudden death took place at Milton on Wesdnesday of Mr Edward Carnegy, sanitary contractor for the borough. Deceased was a son of James and Jessie Carnegy, of Oaraaru. where he was born 62 years ago. When _ a young man he came south and worked in Clutha Valley district for a time, subsequently taking up a farm at Table Hill prior to becoming contractor to the Milton Borough Council some 10 years ago. He was a South African War veteran, and a member of Bruce R.S.A. Ho married Miss Elizabeth Ann Currie at Duuback 37 years ago, and she predeceased him by some years. He is survived by a son and daughter. Appeal Board.—A sitting of the Armed Forces Appeal Board (Messrs J. R. Bartholomew, chairman, J. Price, and H. Hodgson) was held at Milton yesterday, when a number of appeals were heard, the "rounds being undue hardship and public interest. Mr A. N. Haggitb represented the military authorities. The decisions were;—Hitchons Ltd. appealed for F. W. Marryatt (bacon curer), adjourned for three months, reservist to serve in the Homo Guard in the meantime; same for C. J. Fahey (bacon curer), adjourned sine die, to serve in Home Guard. Allison Bros., for release of F. D. Allison (farmer), recommended that reservist bo released for September-October-November, to serve in Home Guard during that period; F. C. Andrews (farmer), adjourned sine die; C. E. Ruffell (farmer), dismissed, not to be called before October 31; H. Murray (farmer), adjourned sine die, to serve in E.P.S.. W, Brown, for W. J. Ryan (baker), McCrostie Brothers for A. Tweed (farm hand), J. McGrouther for C.. McGrouther, J. R. Finch (farmer), all adjourned sine die, reservists to serve in Home Guard. In some cases special conditioris regarding growing of wheat were made. The appeal of W. Robinson for D. J. Morton for the latter’s release from camp was dismissed. In the following appeals by the Bruce Woollen Company, the cases were adjourned sine die, conditional on reservists serving in Home Guard or E.P.S. sections to which they are at present attached; —J. A. B. Donald, H. A. Heads (engineers), G. H. Hayes (woo! scourer), J. S. McDowell, H. McK. McGregor (piecers), I. D. McLean (carpenter), K. K. Sawers (chainminder), J. L. Wyber (carder), C. Townley (electrician). The Otago Power Board appealed for E. T. Fletcher (electrical wireman), N. Moir (electrician), P. Richardson, N. Fletcher (linesmen). —Adjourned sine die, conditional on remaining in E.P.S. The appeal of A. J. Paterson to be released from camp was dismissed. The. New Snowdrift Lime Company appealed for the release of J. Annicich and R. F. Jones (quarryman) from camp. Dismissed. From J. R. Owen (feeder to crusher), adjourned sine die, to serve in Home Guard.
