OBITUARY
MRS J. D. RICKARD Mrs J. D. Pickard, who passed away yesterday at Dunedin, was in her eighty-ninth year. She was a. wellknown resident in the north end, where she had resided all her life. Mrs Pickard, who was associated with the Dundas Street Church practically all her life, was the oldest member. She had a most retentive memory, and had a remarkable store of information relating to the early days, having arrived in Dunedin in 1858 by the ship Robert Henderson, with her parents.and was the last link of a family of nine children. Mrs Pickard was predeceased by her husband, Mr _ Peter Pickard, many years ago. She is survived by two sons—Messrs David and' William Pickard—and a daughter (Mrs W. Strachau), and there are seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
R£Y. A. B. CHAPELL (P.A.) AUCKLAND, Aug. 38. The death has occurred of the Eev< A. B. Chapell, M.A., in his seventieth year. He was formerly a Wesleyan minister, registrar of Auckland University, and also a member of the editorial staff of the ‘ New _ Zealand Herald,’ from which ho retired last year. In his time he was actively associated with many educational and commercial bodies and young movements.
