AIGIE RETAINS TITLE An outstanding exhibition of table tenuis was proviued at the Y.M.C.A. last nigiit, wnen the final match of tbe Otago men's singles championship was decided, Russell Atgie, the Otago champion, retaining his title. Atgie is also the Hew Zealand singles champion. In the final match he met F. Patou, the North Ismnd singles champion. Fast exchanges marked the match, and honours were even at two sets all The score went to 20 ail m the last set, after which Atgie went on to Lake the match by winning tbe next two volleys, A leaturo of the match was the brilliant recovery of Aigie against the remarkahiy strong forearm drives of Paton. The set scores m favour of Aigie were lb-21, 21-18, 21-17, 16-21, 22-20. Aigie won iris semi-final against Don Miller, the veteran piayer. whi.e Paton defeated S. A. Brentford, the South Canterbury champion. Players from as far distant as Auckland took part in the matches. Championship Results.—Men’s A grade smgies: R. Aigie. Women’s A grade singles; Miss E.
