QUEEN CARNIVAL
The bathing beauty competition held at the Pioneer Hall in conjuncion with the All People’s All Purposes Queen Carnival was brought to a highly successful conclusion last night. The final result' was:— Miss Maida Whyte (Sargoods) 1. Miss Eileen Short (Radiation Ltd.) 2, Miss Betty McDonald (Sargoods) 3. Votes for this contest were Id each, and the total amount raised during the last week was £l9O. ' The queen carnival, which has run during the last nine weeks a course exceeding even the highest expectations, will be concluded to-night with the ' spectacular and colourful poster ball, conducted in the Pinoeer Hall on behalf of the appeal by the Wembley Dance Club. Here the grand climax will be the final polling in the queen carnival, beginning at 11.15 and concluding with the announcement of the result at 11.30. . ' L The Transport section made another substantial pay-in yesterday, and is at present clear of the others at the top of the poll. The Fun Factory is also reopening tonight for one night only, 1 ’ and all the popular games and competitions will be conducted at the King’s Theatre. Mr R. Herbert, organising secretary of the carnival, to-day expressed khen appreciation of the action of the Wembley Dance promoters in giving the use of the Pioneer Hall for the patriotic carnival that has been conducted there, and for organising the poster ball which will be the final effort of the campaign.
