BRIGHTON AMENITIES
SOCIETY'S ANNUAL MEETING Tlie nineteenth annual meeting of the Brighton Advancement and Amenities Society was held recently, Mr G. W. Bush presiding over a small attendance of members. The annua! report and balance sheet showed, in spite of adverse conditions, a slight increase on the previous year’s returns. Speaking on the balance sheet, the patron (Mr J. Allan) complimented the executive on its most satisfactory work for the year. He said that for such a small society to show an equity of £1,280 2s Id was a distinct credit and attention to duty by the committee. The first-class order .in ''hich the hall and property of the society was kept was worthy of mention, and constituted an asset to the district.On a recommendation from the committee it was decided to make a donation of £lO towards the Patriotic Fund, the donation to go through the channels of the local Patriotic Committee for queen carnival support. Mention was made that the hall was still to be available free of charge for all patriotic functions. The following officers were elected:— Patron, Mr James Allan; president, Mr O. W. Bush; vice-presidents, Mr 11. L. M’Coll and Mr It. Lobb; secretary and treasurer, Mr James Blackic: auditor, Mr D. M. Irvine; committee—Messrs W. Coutts, J. Mee, G, Stevenson, J. Stevenson, P. Coutts, and G. W. Fraser.
