OTAGO’S BEST BOWLER
G. LEMIN RECEIVES TROPHY Opportunity was taken during the presence in Dunedin on short leave of Mr George Lemin to hand over to him the Wycherley Trophy which had been awarded to him as being Otago’s most useful bowler jn representative cricket matches last season. The presentation was made last evening by the president of the Otago Cricket Association (Mr F. N. Binney), who congratulated Mr Lemin on his fine performance in taking 14 of the 40 wickets which fell to Otago bowlers at a cost of less than 19 runs a-pieoe. He wished Mr Lemin (who is now a member of the Air Force) a safe and speedy return to the cricket fields of Dunedin. Mr G. A. Wycherley, donor of the trophy, added his congratulations, and stated that bad Mr Lemin obtained a couple more wickets without additional cost he would have headed the first class bowling averages for the Dominion. . Mr Lemin expressed his pleasure at winning the trophy, also at having, when he was at length given a full-season opportunity, “ not let his side down.” He hoped that he would return to cricket soon enough to give the game years more of service.
