SOUTH OTAGO NOTES
[From Our Correspondent] PERSONAL. Prior to leaving South Otago Newspapers, on the clerical staff of which she has been employed for the past four years, Miss Joan Mountford was the recipient of a crystal powder bowl from the staff, Mr D. Ward making the presentation. Miss Mountford is joining the post office staff in place of Miss D. Hall, transferred to Dunedin. Mr M. Hindmarsh, who for the past six months has been on the staff of the Balclutha Post Office, was the recipient of a fountain pen from his colleagues prior to his departure for Levin as a gunner in the Air Force. The Balclutha staff has been pretty hardly bit in the way of men. going away. Mr Le Oouter left recently to join the Air Force, and Messrs W. Hudson, A. Heenan, and B. Stevenson leave in the course of a few days for the Territorial camps. BALCLUTHA GOLF CLUB. In the second round of the knock-out competition, played at Balclutha links yesterday, the results were: — Thompson bent Fowler, Grace boat Dreaver, Jolly beat R.. Guest, Robinson heat Baxter, Fookes beat Sceats, Marshall beat Scott, Mathcwson boat Kelly, Dodds beat Angus.
