HEIL HUNGER!
Dr Martin Gumpert, formerly head of a large clinic in Berlan and a practising physician and surgeon, brings evidence to boar in support of other published statements to the effect that the Nazi regime, notwithstanding Hitler’s claim to have shown the German people the way to physical strength, has been slowly undermining their health. In a book which Allen and Unwin have just published, entitled ‘Hell Hunger! Health Under Hitler,’ he maintains that widespread degeneracy and illness have resulted from these conditions. Basing his hook exclusively on Nazi sources, medical statistics in technical German magazines and the like, he concludes that Germany, having been forced to live under what amounts to war-time conditions for some six years, is in no condition to endure much more privation.
