O.R.F.U. MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETING The .Management Committee of the Otago Rugby Football Union held its weekly meeting last night, the president/.Mr D. C. .lolly, being in the . eJniir. NO VISIT FROM BURNHAM TEAM. Colonel E. T. Rowllings, officer commanding the Southern military district, wrote regretting that it would not be possible to send a team from Burnham to play in Dunedin. The Burnham team was very seriously depleted, and it had been hoped to make good these members from the new recruits arriving with the 4th Reinforcement. The date of entry of the 4th Reinforcement into camp had been delayed, and it (lid not appear that the Burnham camp would be able to muster a worthwhile team again this season. It was decided to express the union’s regret that it would not be possible to plav the match, and to thank Colonel Rowllings for his efforts in the matter. JUNIOR PLAYER DISCIPLINED. It was decided to stand down for one playing Saturday a Southern third grade player, who was ordered off on Saturday’for allegedly disobeying the referee’s ruling. PATRIOTIC MATCH AT CARISBROOK. It was decided to grant the Public Service Football Committee, the use of two sots of jerseys in connection with the footballers’ day at Carishrook next Saturday in aid of the patriotic funds. Appreciation was expressed by the secretary of the action of the gntemen in offering their services voluntarily in connection with the game. OPOHO GROUND. The town cleric replied to the union’s representations regarding improvements to Opoho ground, and stated that the reserves superintendent was of opinion that before any top-dressing was carried out on the area the drains should be relaid. The committee was of opinion that until this work was carried out top-dressing should be delayed, and instructions wore issued to the superintendent of reserves to proceed with the work of relaving the drains. It was decided to send a copy of the letter to the Alhambra Club, suggesting that it should discuss the matter with the superintendent of reserves SENIOR COMPETITION.

Southern was declared the winner of the senior competition, and it was decided to send a letter of congratulation to the club. PRIMARY SCHOOLS COMPETITIONS. The Rugby Sub-committee of the Otago State ' Primary Schools Sports Association reported that the results of the various sections were as follows: —A Grade. — A Section.—Winner, Macandrew Intermediate II.; runner-up, Musselburgh I. SEVEN-A-SIDE TOURNAMENT. It was decided to hold a seven-a-side tournament on September 28 and to call for entries from the clubs in first, second, and third grades. * GENERAL. The King Edward Technical College was granted the use of Carkbrook for its annual sports on October 2b, and St. Hilda’s Collegiate School for its sports on October 24. H. L. Smith’s application for a transfer from Southern to Pirates was noted. The Pirates Club was granted permission to travel to Balclutha on Saturday to play a match against South Otago, Mr C. M’Pheo to be the manager. Mr D. M. Spedding was appointed to represent thb union at a meeting tomorrow night in connection with a sports day on the Caledonian Ground on October 5 in aid of the patriotic funds. FIXTURES FOR SATURDAY.
