BEAU LEON WINS AGAIN BIG HANDICAP TO ROYEVRUS The Avondale Jockey Club’s Spring Mooting was concluded in overcast and rainy weather which later improved, the track cutting out. The attendance was good, pud the totalisator for the day handled £42,258, against £87,226 last year, an increase of £5,032 10s. For the meeting the total was £107,110 10s, against £86,701 10s last year, an increase of £20,409. After an inquiry by the Judicial Committee, it was stated that the rider of Our Jean in tho Plumpton Handicap, M'Tavish, had made an error of judgment in not improving his position between the six-furlong post and the turn into the straight, and it was the opinion of the committee that he should be cautioned. LEAGUE CRICKET • SELF HELP CLUB At the annual meeting of the above club the president (Mr W. C. Whitworth) was in the chair. The Chairman congratulated the club on completing a successful year botli socially and financially. On account of tho war the dub had lost some of its members, but he considered it advisable to carry on in the interest of the younger players.
