WAR PLANE FUND
TOTAL MOUNTING [Per United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, September 10. The Alinister of Finance (Hon. W. Nash) announced to-day that a total of £36,121 13s 3d had been paid in on account of the aeroplane fund. Of that amount the ‘ New Zealand Herald’s ’ contribution was £25,592 12s 3d and the Southland Fighter -Fund £10,500. The Wellington ‘ Evening Post’s ’ total collection to date for this fund amounts to £10,458 6s 7d. INVERCARGILL. September 10. The cheque for £10,500, which was to-day; acknowledged by Mr Nash on behalf of the Southland Fighter Plane Fund Committee, is to purchase a second plane for the Royal, Air Force, the money for the first plane having already' been sent and acknowledged by tho Air Alinistry'i It is the wish of the donors that if possible the plane should be named Southland 11. and flown by a New Zealand airman.
