TAIERI COMPETITORS FESTIVAL
A committee meeting of the Taieri Competitions Society was held at Mosgiel last week, Hlev. W. Edgar ing.Mr G. E. Wilkinson, musical adjudicator, wrote asking that marks for memorising in the piano, violin, and vocal classes be deleted from report sheets.—The suggestion was adopted. Pipeis R. M'lvenzie and N. Stratton were appointed official pipers for national dancing. The following working officials were appointed:—Stage manager, Mr S. W. Osborne; competitors marshal. Mr W. Campbell; time-keeper,'assistant stage manager, and marshal, Mr J. W. Johnston; judges’ and Press steward, Mr B. Ewart; ticket box, Miss J. Harrison; chief ushers, Messrs L. S. Dyer and B. Wood; lighting effects, Mr W. Borrow. It was left with Mrs Mason and Miss C. Cheyne to arrange a ladies’ catering committee. The following are to be invited to act as chairmen for sessions:—The mayor (Mr W. P. Hartstonge), Mr A. E. o uelch, Revs. E. P. Y. Simpson, A. MfFarlane, S. C. Read, H. W. Haigh, and Adjutant W. B. Crichton. Mrs R. Harrison’s donation of ss, Mrs G. Mulch’s donation of 5s to prize fund, Miss Westland’s donation of 10s Cel to piano prize list. Mrs E. Lobb’v donation of Gs for first and second m-izes for character sketch under 12 were accepted with thanks. It was decided to make a display of trophies in a shop window in Mosgiel. The Secretary' reported that entries were coming in well.
