A NOTABLE SUCCESS

*GLORIOUS MORNING’ REPERTORY SOCIETY PRODUCTION The Dunedm Repertory Society’s presentation of Norman MacOwan’s ‘ Glorious Morning ’ has been a notable success, and another good audience at His Majesty’s Theatre last night appreciated to the full the interpretation of this modern drama by a big cast ot highly skilled players whose efforts, and those of the producer (Miss Bessie Thomson) have combined to make ‘ Glorious Morning ’ one of the society’s best performances. In a play in which several notable portrayals are given, it may be said that Miss Mary Jolly and Mr F. S. Avent are both outstanding. In her role as the divinely-inspired Leda, Miss Jolly gives a performance marked by such maturity and depth as to stamp her a most facile and accomplished actress. Mr Avent’s characterisation of Anton Veerkind constitutes a brilliant performance. Mr Frank Lanyon is to be warmly commended on his impersonation of Professor flans Skaepia, and Mr Lionel Stephens, as the tyrannous General Gurgani, gives an excellent performance in a part demanding high acting qualities and attention to detail. Miss Kathleen Falconer is convincing as the young revolutionary enthusiast, Katrina Hoefler, handling her part with the same restraint which characterises the work of nearly every performer. Miss Elsie M'Peak gives a fine study of Anna Veerkind, and others who do their oart to contribute to the success of the play are Mr Derek Hancock, Mr Cecil Oaten, Mr Larry Hanlon, Mr T. A. Tarrant, Mr D. C. Rose, Mr Leslie Dunbar, Mr W., M'Pliail, Mr Bruce Quennell, Mr Bernard Sullivan, M, L. Powell, and Miss Doreen Harvey. The play will be presented to-night and to-morrow night.
