Despite the present war conditions inquiries for medium-priced houses still continue, but due to the lack of speculation or private building the supply ot this particular type of property is barely sufficient to meet the demand, and values are quite firm, reports the Otago branch of the Real Estate Institute of New Zealand. A good demand exists for the higher-priced modern home in close proximity to the city. Possible war legislation has created some difficulty in completing the desired finance to accommodate intending purchasers, but this difficulty should shortly be overcome. Flats and houses to rent are particularly scarce and the demand greatly exceeds the supply.
