HARRIER CLUBS

CAVERSHAM. The Caversham Club’s onc-milo consolation race was held Saturday, there being 12 runners. Early in the race W. T. M’Millau was prominent, but when half the journey had boon covered the back-markers commenced to make an impression on tho field, and with a lap to go A. J. Barr went to the front, with R. Emmerson, G. J. M'Kay, and R. J. M’Causland racing in a "bunch. Running strongly, Barr entered tho straight with a lead of about 10yds, and he increased his advantage in the run to the finishing line. Emmerson, M’Kay, and M’Causl.and came into tho straight together, and Emmerson beat his rivals in a great race for second place. The result was as follows:—A. J. Barr (scr) 1, R. Emmerson (50yds) 2, R J. M’CansLatid (100yds) 3. Time, Bmin 7sec. Several members of both the Caversham and Civil Service Clubs took part in leisurely runs. Next Saturday the competition for the Sidey Cup will bo held, when tho two clubs will commence a series of track events. A Rugby match for the Litolff Trophy, which is competed for annually by the Caversham and Civil Service Clubs, was played and resulted in a draw, each ride scoring 3 points, tries being scored by W. Young (Caversham) and R. M’Lachlan (Civil Service). Mr F. O. Lowry was referee. LEITH. As the guests of Mr and Mrs J. H. G. Clarke, the final run of the season was held from the Holy Innocents’, Leith Valley. Captain Pridham, with De-puty-captains Stephenson and Murray, led the pack to the Clear at Dalmore, where members practised starting, jumping, and shot-putting in view of next Saturday’s triangular sports meeting. Leaving the Clear, the trail led to Maori Hill, thence to Ross Greek Reservoir, bringing the pack out at the Paper Mills. The run home was fast, resulting as follows:—A. L. Murray 1, W. Freeman 2, P. Garden 3. The team for the triangular sports meeting with St. Kilda and Mornington at the University Oval next Saturday - is ns follows:—100 vards: S. Smith, 11. A, Timms. 220 yards: S. V. A vent, F. Hodge. 410 yards; A. L. Murray, C. Blackledgo. 880 yards: J. Stephenson, W. Freeman, One mile: W. Arthur, J. Dickey. Broad jump; B. A. Timms, A, L. Murray. Hop, step, and jump: S. V. A vent, F. Hodge. High jump: H. Hutchison, S Smith. Shot putt: C. Blackledgo, R. Findlater. DUNEDIN. Dunedin held a walk instead of its final run from the residence of Mrs P. Romerill, Passmore Crescent, Maori Hill. The walk covered the countryside surrounding the Balmacewen golf links and the Southern Reservoir. Aftenvards the members were the guests of Mrs Romerill. MORNINGTON. Although not much actual running was done, Mornington spent an enjoyable afternoon at tho beach. Turning out under Deputy-captain Munro, a good muster of members proceeded over Lawyer’s Head to Tomahawk, where games were played. More games were played on the return to the St. Kilda Beach, many members having their first swim of tho season. BAPTIST. Leaving tbo residence of flic president, Mr 11. J. Hayward, in NorthEast Valley, tho Baptist Club hold its final run of the season. The pack proceeded via Bolting street, Signal Hill road, to cross Farquharson’s farm to the top of tho hill. Cutting down the hack the pack pushed across Broatlacres to come out on the High road. Running up past Brown House the truck led round the Mount Cargill road, where tho pack crossed tho paddocks loading down the power lipe track into the head of Bethune’s Gully. The track through the gully provided a good run, although it was a ; ittio slippery from recent, rains. The pack finally came out on Norwood street, and had a long steady run down the Valley. Making up the hill, the run homo began down Maybank street from Blacks road The pack finished in a bunch. In the evening the presentation of trophies was made by the president, Mr Hayward. Attendancebadges were presented by the patron, Mr J A. Bond. CELTIC UNITED. The run from St. Joseph’s was well attended. The presentation of prizes will take place at the Rialto on Weclricsday at 1i.15. Thu members will bo entertained to a dinner as the guests of Mr T. Hackctt.

ST. KILDA. St. Kilda ran from the club rooms. R. Beatson led the club along the beach, where a practice at broad jumping was held. There was a relay race run between two teams ol tile chib. With the season nearing completion, the runs are more of a ramble, and members are enjoying this style of run. The pack, under Captain W. Mackinnon and Deputy-captain R. Whittleston, proceeded up the hill past the butts and through tlie scrub, doubling back to Logan Park after an easy walk round the slopes of Signal Hill. A relay race was held around Logan Park. The colts under Mr M'Kernau had a run to Opoho. The journey homo took the form of a rday, the boys getting in some practice in baton changing. Before the run the club captain made a presentation to Mr B. R. MTvernan from the members of the winning teams in interclub races this year, in appreciation of the work he had done at the Caledonian Ground. During the week. Mr A R.
