CRICKET
TAIERI CLUB Mr A. S. Murray presided at the annual meeting of the Taierl Club. The President, moving the adoption of the annual report, said the Season had been an enjoyable one for players. Tho efforts of the teams had produced very creditable results. Ho made special mention of the success of the boys’ team, which had been formed during the year. Tho committee had agreed during the year to raise the sum of £2O towards the new pavilion. He expressed thanks on behalf, of the committee to the vice-presidents for their help and monetary assistance. The thanks of the club were due to the Mosgiel Borough Council for improvements to playing areas and to the football club for the use of tho pavilion. The club felt proud that Mr J. Brown (a member) had played in representative cricket.
The balance sheet, which disclosed a satisfactory position, was adopted. The election of office-bearers resulted :—Patron, Hon, F. Jones, M.P.; president, Mr L. M'Adam; senior vicepresident, Hr F. Thurlow; club captain, Mr D. Bowie; deputy club captain, Mr A. AV. M‘Cunn; secretary, Mr V. Kirby; treasurer, Mr W. Fogo; committee—-Messrs A. M'Cunn, L. Paterson, S. M'Cartney* A. R. Murray, Chiles, K. Williamson, and S. Kirk; auditor, Mr C. Cooke; trustees, Mr A. AV. M'Cunn and the treasurer: coach, Mr F. Thurlow; delegate, Mr L. M'Adam. Messrs A. S. Murray and J. F. M'Cartney were added to the list of vice-presidents. Though the rules did not empower such a step, the meeting expressed ap-
proval of the suggestion to elect to life membership Mr Livingstone. Mr L. M'Adam presented the cup for honours in bowling. This cup was given by Mr W. Scott, the winner being A. R. Murray. Tho presentation of the Roy Graves. Cup for the best bowling average in the first two teams was made to the winner (F. Thurlow) by Mr A. AV. M'Cunu. The Chairman referred to the excellent average for batting registered by M. J. Milne, 10 games yielding 30.85. Vacating the chair, Mr Murray congratulated the new president and thanked all members and retiring officers for their help during the year. Mr M'Adam acknowledged his election to the office of president. The opening day was fixed for October 7.
At tho conclusion of the meeting Mr Mitchell thanked the retiring president (Mr A. Murray) for his services during the past year.
