ALIEN LINE-UP
BEWILDERING ARRAY AT WELLINGTON FROM POLAND TO PALESTINE [Per United Press Association.]'' WELLINGTON, September 21,' The of the Central Police Station at Wellington have during the last week or two been filled with patiently-waiting groups of people anxious to register under the requirements brought about by the war. Men and women from Poland, Palestine, Austria, Armenia, Latvia, and Lebanon are all queued up outside, the special office, and the bewildering array of nationalities even included one applicant who announced his home town as Nazareth. So far 1,475 certificates have 1 been issued to aliens in the Wellington district. The rush is now over, and the work is confined mainly to issuing certificates to aliens in outlying places, who have registered by post. The applicants have nearly all been able to speak enough English for the requirements. Some who anticipated difficulty thoughtfully brought interpreters along with them. Some from European countries had _ passports, wliich of themselves supplied practically all the information required.
