Champtaloup, touring manager of the Automobile Association (Auckland), interviewed after an eight months’ tour of America, Britain, and Europe. He considered that the Dominion’* highways system compared favourably, not only with overseas countries of similar size, but the main roads under the jurisdiction of the Highways Board were equal to many of the main highways in Britain. Modern roadmaking provided two lanes of traffic, divided by a grassed strip in the centre of the road. At important intersections cloverleaf system of planning, removing the danger* of level crossings,' was regarded as superior to any other method. England was now following America in this connection.
